The 360-hectare Freeport Area of Bataan may become an ideal destination for world class sports and leisure activities.
This idea popped up among officials of Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) when the FAB 5150 Recon officially wrapped up on Monday (December 9). The AFAB officials and event organizers described the sports event as stunning and successful attracting sports enthusiasts from Mariveles and the region.
AFAB administrator and CEO Hussein P. Pangandaman has disclosed during a presscon last month that a 15-hectare golf course is being developed within the Freeport area.
The AFAB and the Ironman Group’s Sunrise Events, Inc. held a test run in the freeport as a prelude to the 5150 FAB triathlon next year. The sports events kicked off last December 7-8 participated in by 31 triathletes from seven participating teams who joined in the 1.5- kilometer swim, 40-km bike and 10-km run.
Hazel Keith Elloren, AFAB information officer, said the activity joined by FAB community was a reconnaissance event to test the course for next year’s IronmanX FAB 5150 race.
